Change - States of Matter

This term we are learning all about ...
Change - Why does it change?

Room 11 have spent the last couple of weeks learning about the
3 States of Matter - Solid, liquid, and gas

All materials are either a solid, liquid or gas. We have completed 'Define' maps to define what material objects fit into the each category.
We now know that - a solid is something that can hold its own shape by itself.
- a liquid is something that can't hold its own shape by itself.
-Gas is something without shape or colour.

Check out our define maps on our next blog.

Room 11 Children

WELCOME!

A huge welcome to all the whanau of Room 11!

We have had a fantastic start to the year and have learnt lot's already. All the children have settled in well and have learnt the classroom routine.

Our morning starts with phonics - learning the sound each letter makes.

Followed by writing - we are learning to plan our writing by drawing a picture and also find and write words we know (I, to, is, Mum, etc)

Next we do reading - we are learning to use our 'reading finger' when reading (point to each word, say 1 word for each point).

After morning tea we have maths - we have been learning to count to 10 or 20 and also correctly write numbers up to 10. We are also learning strategies for solving + problems. .

We also have to fit in Te Reo, handwriting, phonics activities, concept learning, swimming, singing, poems, P.E, ICT and Library into our shedule so we are very busy people!!!!
