WELCOME TO MIRO!

Kia ora, and welcome to Miro - Room 11.

We have 15 energetic and happy 5 year olds in Room 11. Our teacher is Miss O'Keeffe and Mrs B is our learning assistant.

Please join us on our learning journey and blog us. There are some fun reading and maths games that can assist your child on here too.

Homework Expectations

Dear Parents/Caregivers
Welcome to Room 11—Miro. This letter is just a quick run down of how homework will work in Room 11 this year.
Reading
The reading programme is in place so your child will be bringing home a book to read each night. Please sign their homework books to show that they have read. Book bags and homework books need to be brought back to school every day whether your child has read their books or not.
MathsFor homework your child will be sent home a number to learn. I would like your child to learn to recognise the number, write the number, and find it in the house (on remote control, calendar, clock, or anywhere else). Once your child has learnt that number then they will be given a new one to learn.
Early words
The Early words programme consists of your child learning 1 word at a time. When your child masters remembering that word, they will then be given another word to learn. Your child will have an activity to complete each night. Please help your child with this.
If your child does not learn their Early words then they will not be able to read!

Homework should be fun to you and your child. Give lots of praise and your child will want to read more and more. Reading to your child is also very beneficial to their progress.
I look forward to a happy and productive year with your children. Please do not hesitate to come and see me if you have any or concerns.

Kind regards

Hayley O’Keeffe
